Mestre Ratto is admired from all his students . He has a special way of giving classes and for him there are no differences between graduation, sex, color and social class. He helps various people who practice capoeira with him with his advices and with his friendship. When needed he also helps them with food/money, as some of his students do not have an easy life.
He is a very good player and he carries in his heart the capoeira name. His love for capoeira is so big that everywhere he goes he fascinates several people with his capoeira games and he manages to convince them to fight for spreading the capoeira culture around the world. He believes that we can all help capoeira and the world to be better.  He gives classes in a lot of places and his name is well known. To symbolize his daily fight in his life, he made a tattoo of a warrior.
He started a social project alone in his brother backyard in a very poor region called Riacho Doce. He built an area that he uses to give capoeira classes to the kids from this region. A lot of them there became so fascinated with Mestre Ratto’s classes that some of them went away of crime and started looking for a better future. Nowadays all the children from Riacho Doce study and are ”obliged” to have good marks, otherwise he gives them a lower cord. For them this is a very severe punishment which makes them to study. The project is legalized but it does not have a lot of resources to be maintained. For now they can only give to these kids Capoeira, some food and some parties in important dates such as Christmas, Children’s day and so on. However, everyone in the group tries to get some money to built a better space where classes related to school can also be given.  They have a project called NAJF ((Núcleo de Arte Jogando com o Futuro) where they present a show related to capoeira.. All the profits are saved and are to help NAJF. Mestre Ratto and his students also give several capoeira shows and part of the money they earn with that is to help NAJF.

„In 2001 I became Formado Ratto when I received the black cord. That day was one of the most important days of my life because after 19 years of dedication I became recognised. It was an unbelievable moment and with great honour I received the black cord from famous and important Mestres in capoeira, such as Mestre Itapoã, Mestre Paulão, Mestre Paulinho Sabiá, Mestre Boneco and Mestre Tony Vargas.
In 2002 I founded officially the ”projeto social Água de Beber” with the objective to work with the capoeira in several poor communities in Fortaleza and help the children to get a better future. The effort made was worthwhile, as very rapidly this type of work grew up and spreaded around the poorest regions in Fortaleza. In 2006 the project called projeto social Água de Beber became an autonomous social institution with the name CENTRO CULTURAL CAPOEIRA ÁGUA DE BEBER (CECAB).”
